Fridays are meant to be fun, and Courtney is joining us today to show off her really fun project.  I'm green with jealousy - she's so talented!

Hello everyone! I am so excited to be for my very first Mabel Madison Fun Friday. I am Courtney and I blog over at The Wholesome Mama.

I am excited to be sharing one of my most recent sews with you today! I have been a a big fan of Michelle Patterns since she was previously known as Keyka Lou Patterns, and own quite a few patterns of hers. What I love about them is the simplicity and how quickly they sew up. For Mabel Madison Friday, I decided that I would make the Padded Camera Pouch since it has been sitting in my library of patterns for some time.

As I was shopping at Mabel Madison recently, I fell in LOVE with the Candid Camera in Brown, Verhees Euro Poplin and knew that it would be the perfect match for this project! I mean, come fabric for a camera pouch...yes please!!! Since I have been following @michellepatterns on Instagram, I have really come to love the look of mixing denim/chambray and prints together, so I knew that was something that I wanted to do here. I went ahead and also grabbed the Chambray in Pin Dots as well as the Big Stars in Royal, Stenzo Poplin to coordinate with the cameras.

Each one of the fabrics came together so well, and I am very impressed with the end result. The Verhees and Stenzo poplins are not quite as heavy as your typical cotton woven would be, but they really sew up beautifully and are prefect for so many projects. They would be just perfect for making a nice and airy dress for summer, especially here in the Texas heat. To me I would compare them to a voile! The chambray is absolutely TO DIE FOR!!!! Also light and airy, it would make a beautiful dress or top for summer.

It was so satisfying completing this project and seeing the end result! My camera fit perfectly into my pouch, and I can really see using this pattern for so many fun things. It would make a great gift for your photographer friend, but I can also see myself using it for sewing supplies when I go on craft retreats with my friends! There are so many possibilities.

So, to close, I want to give you a challenge! In the comments below, I want you to tell me THREE fabrics that you would choose to coordinate from the Mabel Madison shop for a fun project such as this. I have been told that I have a knack for coordinating prints and colors that you wouldn't necessarily think to put think outside the box!!! You might be surprised with what you come up with.

I hope to be back here soon, but in the meantime, you can follow me on FACEBOOK | INSTAGRAM | BLOG to see what else I have been up to lately!

Courtney, you've got quite a knack for prints!  We hope to see you here again soon!!!   Happy sewing...
