This is a super exciting Mabel Madison Monday - some of my favorite prints AND one of my favorite pattern designers!!!  Welcome, and read on!

Hi there, this is Ula from Lulu & Celeste here to show off what I made for
Mabel Madison Monday!

Petite Fille dress with Mabel Madison Stenzo sewn by Lulu& Celeste

I had been wanting to try fabric from Mabel Madison for awhile now as I have heard many of my blogger friends raving about the service and fabric quality for ages. Let me just say the fabric arrived so quickly, and I live in Canada!

I chose two poplins from Stenzo: Dizzy Daisies in Red (this is a shop favorite! - Emily) and Swirly Flowers in Aqua (which I used for the lining). These fabrics are so soft and were so nice to work with. I had purchased extra as I want to make a little coordinating purse for my daughter out of the Swirly Flowers but haven't had a chance to do that yet!

The first thing I did when I received the beautiful fabric was wash it. And then I forgot it overnight in the dryer... I had expected I would need to iron it the next day but no! This poplin is so amazing, there was just the tiniest bit of wrinkling. Had I taken it out of the dryer right away there probably would not have been any!

So what did I make? I'm glad you asked! I decided to sew up the Petite Fille dress from Puperita. I own a few patterns from Puperita but until now I had never actually sewn one up. The Petite Fille dress is so cute and I think a beginner could sew it as there are no closures. There are cute knots at each shoulder.

As you can see the dress has a cute cross-over in the front. I sewed up the size 3 which was the smallest size in the child size range. The dress also comes in baby sizes up to size 2 which is called the Bee Sweet dress. Since Miss V is in between size 2 and 3's right now in most patterns I went with the size 3 so that I would get more use out of the pattern. It's a little large on her but she'll grow into it. The fabric is perfect for a dress as it is somewhat lightweight but not see-through, drapes so nicely and doesn't wrinkle easily. I would for sure use it for a dress for myself if I could get over my fear of sewing myself a dress!

I had to include the shot below because it shows just how much volume there is in this dress while not using too much fabric!

I had so much fun sewing up this dress with the Stenzo fabric! I can't wait to get my hands on more, it was just so nice to work with and makes a perfect summer dress. My daughter loves it and lately I haven't been able to get her to pose for pictures in things I've made but she was happy to pose in this one!

Wheee!  Twirly dresses are the BEST.  If you've never sewn a Puperita pattern, you're missing out.  Lovely designs, clear directions, excellent grading, and amazing results.  They're a perfect match for Euro prints and patterns!  To top it all off, the designer is the loveliest person ever.  Thank you, Ula, for showcasing Stenzo's poplin today!!!  The MM crew is in love with your creation!  Now you should sew something up for yourself.  :)
